NARDO' OLD TOWN

Nardò, a city of nearly 40,000 inhabitants, boasts a vast historic center divided into four districts. Rich in Baroque churches carved in warm-toned carparo stone, and noble palaces with sculpted balconies and colorful facades, Nardò captivates with its unique charm. The Aragonese Castle, with its garden, and the central piazza with an obelisk are just some of the wonders to discover. With its courtyards, local restaurants, artisan crafts, the Bishop’s Palace, and its proximity to the sea, Nardò offers an authentic experience away from mass tourism, enjoyable in every season.
PALAZZO SAMBIASI
EX MONASTERO SANTA TERESA

Originally a monumental 14th-century building belonging to the wealthy Sambiasi family, who made their fortune in the Middle Ages with lamp oil, Palazzo Sambiasi was donated to the Vatican in the late 1600s and transformed into a Carmelite monastery with a beautiful Baroque church. Later confiscated by Napoleon and sold to noble families of the Kingdom of Naples, today it welcomes visitors with its impressive halls, nearly 12 meters high, adorned with sculptures by Giovanni Maria Tarantino, and stunning mosaics. The rooftop, the highest point in the city, offers a unique view of the sea and Nardò’s historic center. A treasure of history and architecture not to be missed.
